Community Mobilizes to Address Rising Homelessness |
Brevard County is set to commence its annual Point in Time Count (PITC) on Thursday, January 22, aiming to assess the current state of homelessness within the community.
Organized by the Brevard Homeless Coalition, this one-night survey seeks to gather data on both sheltered and unsheltered individuals experiencing homelessness.
This initiative is crucial for understanding the scope of the issue and for planning effective interventions.
Recent trends have shown a significant increase in unsheltered homelessness in the area.
According to the 2024 PITC, there was a notable rise in individuals living without shelter, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive solutions.
These findings underscore the pressing demand for enhanced housing options and support services.
Community involvement is vital for the success of the PITC.
The Coalition is actively seeking volunteers to assist with the count.
Opportunities include conducting surveys, assembling donation bags with essential items, and contributing through donations.
Those interested can sign up and participate in a virtual training session scheduled for 5:30 p.m. tonight.
During this session, volunteers will learn how to use the digital survey tools, review best practices for conducting the count, and gain an overview of what to expect during outreach.
To volunteer or for more information, visit the Brevard Homeless Coalition's official website or contact them directly at (321) 285-6640.
Engaging in this effort offers a meaningful way to contribute to the community and support those in need.
By participating, volunteers play a direct role in shaping the strategies that address homelessness in Brevard County.
Every individual counted brings us closer to understanding and solving this critical issue. |
