City of Palm Bay to Launch 'Planning Matters' Workshop Series in January 2026 |
Monthly sessions aim to educate residents on city planning and development processes |
The City of Palm Bay is set to introduce the 'Planning Matters' Workshop Series, a 14-month public education initiative commencing on January 21, 2026.
These workshops are scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month at 5:00 PM, continuing through early 2027.
Designed for advisory board members, city staff, and the general public, the series aims to provide clear insights into local planning laws, development review procedures, and infrastructure strategies that guide Palm Bay's growth.
Each 60 to 90-minute session will be led by subject matter experts from various city departments, featuring both instructional content and interactive discussions.
Topics will encompass land use, zoning, mapping, site planning, public input processes, code enforcement, low-impact development, and the distinctions between legislative and quasi-judicial roles in local government.
Additional sessions will address legal obligations, ethical considerations, and tools for economic development and infrastructure planning.
Growth Management Director Althea Jefferson emphasized that the series is intended to enhance transparency, support informed public participation, and strengthen collaboration between residents and city departments.
Registration is required, and residents who attend at least eight of the fourteen sessions will receive a certificate of completion.
All workshops will take place in the Dawn Reid Community Room at City Hall.
