Three people were injured in a late-night shooting at Castaways Point Park.
In a separate incident, a reckless driver intentionally struck a Palm Bay police cruiser, leading officers on a two-mile pursuit before the suspect was arrested on multiple charges. 🎪 Community & Public Services
Palm Bay Fire Rescue reported responding to more than 1,800 calls in December, reflecting continued growth and demand for emergency services across the city.

Under brilliant January skies, sixth graders at Sunrise Elementary in Palm Bay gathered with anticipation as the Health First First Flight Air Ambulance touched down on campus.
This marked the start of a collaborative water safety and emergency response program, led by Aquatics & Education with vital support from Palm Bay Fire Rescue, Health First, and Brevard Public Schools.
Through live demonstrations and interactive CPR training, students learned essential lifesaving skills—ranging from recognizing distress to effectively communicating with 911.
With Florida leading the nation in childhood drowning deaths, these lessons serve urgent, local needs.
Brooke Bothun, CEO of Aquatics & Education, and Dr. Larissa Dudley emphasized prevention and early education, underscoring that drowning remains both silent and preventable.

The Grant-Valkaria Community Association (GVCA) is nearing completion of Veterans Memorial Park, a moving tribute dedicated to U.S. Armed Forces members.
Set beside Grant-Valkaria Town Hall at 1449 Valkaria Road, the 4,900-square-foot park will showcase bronze statues of male and female soldiers, a military dog, a bald eagle, and a battlefield cross—each honoring the courage and sacrifice of those who served.
An educational kiosk will help visitors explore military history through information on every branch, including the Space Force, with QR codes enabling deeper engagement.
The GVCA is inviting residents to purchase engraved bricks—displayed on vertical monuments—with personalized names and service details, further celebrating veterans’ legacies.

The Space Coast’s beloved Family Christmas Extravaganza transformed Fred Poppe Regional Park in Palm Bay into a festive wonderland for thousands of local families.
Hosted by The House Church together with city partners and more than 60 businesses, this free holiday event is a highlight of the Palm Bay calendar.
Kids and adults alike enjoyed bounce houses, horse rides, face painting, and a magical snow play area.
This year introduced exciting additions: a towering Ferris wheel and the very first “Extravaganza’s Got Talent” show, where local talent competed for a $3,000 prize pool.
Free popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, and drinks filled the air with good cheer.
