Palm Bay's Winn-Dixie to Close, Reopen as ALDI in February

Store at 190 Malabar Road SW transitions to new ownership

The Winn-Dixie supermarket located at 190 Malabar Road SW in Palm Bay is set to close its doors in February, making way for a new ALDI grocery store.

Employees have been notified in advance and will have the opportunity to apply for positions at the upcoming ALDI location or transfer to other Winn-Dixie stores.

This change is part of a broader strategy by ALDI, which acquired approximately 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket locations in 2024, aiming to convert 220 of these stores to the ALDI format by 2027.

In October 2025, Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, announced a rebranding to The Winn-Dixie Company, focusing on strengthening its presence in Florida and southern Georgia.

As the Palm Bay community prepares for this transition, residents can anticipate the arrival of ALDI's discount grocery model, known for its streamlined shopping experience and cost-effective offerings.

While some may view the closure of a longstanding supermarket as a loss, others see it as an opportunity for new shopping options and potential economic benefits.

As the grocery landscape evolves, Palm Bay remains a focal point for these significant retail developments.
